Here is the truth about faith

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
Why Do We Trust?
Who’s Your Favorite Team? Now, who is the most clutch guy on that team? Have you ever been watching a game, and it’s getting down to the wire and the good guys are trailing? Were you worried, concerned, or just sweatin’ it out? Nahhhh, you had faith that your stud player would come through in crunch time and pull out the victory. You just knew he’d win it for you, didn’t you?
Why did you have that faith—that confidence? You had evidence that he’d done it before, even though you couldn’t know if he would this time. There was certainly no guarantee. In fact, Michael Jordan—who is the best basketball player of all time (not sorry, LeBron)—was trusted to take the game-winning shot 26 times and missed.
Faith Assessment
Have you ever examined where you put your faith? When we are a child of God, our faith is in the Great I Am. And although we don’t see Him (yet), we know He is present. We’ve seen the evidence! Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) states, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Dr. Tony Evans states that faith deals with what is real, even though it hasn’t penetrated our five senses (yet).
Faith is the foundational cornerstone for our hope in Jesus Christ! Without faith, we have nothing! We also have nothing if our faith is in the wrong substance (not God). The Word of God itself explains this very clearly:
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
The Truth About Faith
Faith isn’t something that we visit occasionally, and it’s certainly not an emotion. Our everyday walk should be faith-filled, and we should engage the world with confidence. It’s not faith as merely a thought. It’s faith when it hits our feet—our walk.
“But someone will say, ‘You have faith and I have works.’ Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:18
The eleventh chapter of Hebrews is filled with examples of people who lived by faith: Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and many others. Talk about a Dream Team! Their source for success should be ours—faith in the Lord Almighty!
After all, as believers, we know whose we are and how the story ends. We just don’t know how all the pages unfold. But certainly, trials call your faith to the witness stand. So, when there’s doubt or concern that you might be trailing in life, be reminded:
“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8-9
