How is your quarter going?

"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.

James 4:14

Quarters of Your Life

In MD5 we discussed the quarters of a man’s life, with each quarter representing approximately twenty years for the average American male. Some men will get a few extra years on their quarters, and some men will have quarters much shorter than twenty years.

A 4th Quarter Reality

I was recently contacted by two friends that have received a terminal diagnosis. Both men are my same age of fifty-five. The men have been friends of mine for over 30 years. Both men now know approximately how much time they have left, and they also know what their final days will look like.

During our conversation both men talked about their remaining time and what is truly important. The discussion involved words and phrases like “quality of life, regrets, decisions, and relationships.” My heart truly hurts for these men and their families, and I will do my best to be there to support them. As these men close out their lives, there are other men around me that are just starting.

A 2nd Quarter Opportunity

I recently attended a Q2 kickoff session that’s being facilitated by Matt Wilcox, Ty Miller, and Dustin Worthey. Q2 is an off-shoot program of MD5 that is designed for graduating high school senior boys that are making the transition to manhood. The young men are entering the second quarter of their life. The focus of Q2 is to equip the young men to make better decisions around the 5F’s in order to minimize regrets later.

Prepare For Your Upcoming Reality

As we read in the book of James, life is indeed but a vapor. What will you do in your remaining time to disciple others and live an abundant life with minimal regrets?
