“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
Proverbs 17:17
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
The term “Friend” is a loose term these days. So, let's define the term. What is a friend?
Simply put, a friend is someone you can trust. Someone who is there for you through all the good, the bad & the ugly times of your life.
Does someone come to mind? Hopefully since your MD5 cohort you have intentionally sought out a few men in your life, past or present, that can pour into you and vice versa.
Don’t Be Fooled
Just because you know someone fairly well doesn’t mean they are a close friend. As a Christ-following man, you need someone who will do battle for you in prayer. Someone who will call you out when you need it. Not just someone that makes you feel good. That’s not “sharpening” you or drawing you closer to Jesus.
For Example
I have a childhood friend, Matt, that is closer to me today than ever before. He has an extremely difficulty teen aged daughter who puts he and his wife through more insane situations in a month, than any parent should ever have to put up with in a lifetime.
We talk and pray for one another about once a month. However, he texts me at least twice per week asking me to pray for their interactions with her. It’s my pleasure to take him and his family to Almighty God in prayer. He does the same for me. This is a friendship born for adversity!
Prayer Request
If you don’t have a friend like Matt in your life. Ask God to bring someone into your life that will be ready to invest in your walk with God. Then, be ready when he sends someone your way by showing yourself to be trustworthy and intentional.
I pray that God will grant this prayer request for His glory and for your good.
