This is evidence of God's ability

"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)

Everyone Has One and Each One is Different If “fingerprint” comes to mind, you would be correct. A configuration of arches, loops, and whirls appear on every human finger and yet each fingerprint is unique to the individual. I see this as evidence of God’s infinite creative ability! But I don’t refer to fingerprints. I refer to another example of God’s incredible creative ability: the family. My Family We all have a family, yet each one is uniquely different. We all come into the world the same way – we are born of a woman – but each of our families are unique. I was born and halfway grew up in one family, finished growing up in a different one, and now my wife Theresa and I have a family of our own. I have or have had at one point in my life a mother, a father, a brother, grandparents I barely remember, half-brothers, a half-sister, two step-mothers (not at the same time – my family is different but not that different!), step-brothers, step-sisters, a wife, in-laws, a son and daughter Theresa and I adopted from the other side of the world, as well as aunts, uncles, and many cousins. At one point my half-brothers and half-sister were also my step-cousins (ask me about it sometime). Your Family My family is unique with a capital “U” but so is yours. We shouldn’t expect our families to be the same any more than we should expect our fingerprints to match. Ps. 139:14 declares, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." This verse describes the conception and gestation of a child but our families are made up of those fearfully and wonderfully made individuals. And while those individuals are tainted with sin and there will be pain and joy in the midst, God has demonstrated over and over again that He can take the dark threads of pain, the bright threads of joy, and all the shades between, and graciously weave them together to form a beautiful family tapestry that is His unique and marvelous creation. Give Your Family to God I encourage you to choose again today to give the threads of your family to God. Intentionally follow God as He shows you how to lead and weave and then rejoice and celebrate in the uniqueness of the custom-made family God forms with you and through you. There’s nothing like it!
