Two very powerful things

"One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."

Two Very Powerful Things
This quote has been in my Life Plan since the first time I went through MD5.
“You are the same person you will be five years ago except for the people you meet and the books you read.” Charlie T. Jones
There are very few things that can really change us. What we put into our brains through the written word and the friends we choose to surround ourselves with are two very powerful things that shape the trajectory of our lives. When both of those are combined, and a friend gives you a book that changed his life, you have something special.
Theo of Golden
This very thing happened a few weeks ago when I met a friend for breakfast and he gave me a book titled Theo of Golden. I thanked my friend and committed to reading the book. Then over the next week I had five friends recommend the book to me. This was starting to feel like a God thing, so I started reading it. The book grabbed my attention from the beginning. There are so many traits in the character of Theo that align with the pursuit of being a virtuous man that lives a life for Christ by focusing on others. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down.
A Hidden Gem
After completing the book, I started researching the author and found the author was in a men’s discipleship group like MD5. The author never intended to do anything with the book but his friends from the men’s group encouraged him that the book was too good to stay tucked away in his office. So now this simple little book is #1 on New York Times and Amazon.
A Gift
I highly recommend this book to any man reading this Flashback. In the spirit of Theo, it wasn’t just enough to recommend it. I have copies of the book that I want to give to the first three men that contact me. My cell number is (501) 269-7035. I also recommend watching the this very uplifting interview with the author.
