Faith Beyond the Mountaintop Moments

"Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching."
2 Timothy 4:2 ESV
Exciting Times
Oh, the joys of summer—fresh tomatoes, cool lake water on a hot day, and the smell of barbecue in the air. Summer also brings with it retreats, mission trips, and VBS—moments of purpose, service, and a shared commitment to intentionally pursue Christ.
Consistency is Key
We’ve all felt it, that surge of spiritual adrenaline during these events in which it’s easy to live out our faith boldly. But what about the week after? Or a regular Tuesday morning in October? Do we approach our daily walk with the same purpose and intentionality? The truth is, our call to be witnesses for Christ isn’t confined to the “big” moments.
Remember, the battleground is right where you are each day—at the job site, in the office, at the dinner table, and even in quiet conversations with friends. These aren’t distractions from the mission; they are the mission.
Paul's Perspective
The Apostle Paul didn’t write his letters from mountaintops of motivation. He wrote them from prison cells, shipwrecks, and daily grind moments, reminding believers to "be ready in season and out of season" (2 Tim. 4:2). That means we’re called to be consistent men of faith even when we’re not riding the surge and wave of an organized church event.
Live on Mission
So, let’s not wait for the next church event to share Jesus. The people God has placed in our lives today—our coworkers, our kids, our neighbors—need to see and hear the Gospel now. The harsh reality is you may be their only encounter with Christ or the Bible this week, this month, or, sadly, maybe even this year. How will they remember the time you shared?
Here’s the Challenge
Stay alert.
Live intentionally.
Start the conversation.
Ask the deeper question.
Pray in the moment.
Show up with faith when no one else is.
The war for souls isn’t just in faraway lands—it’s in your breakroom, your backyard, and your home.
Don’t just shine when the spotlight is bright. Be a steady flame, fueled by a daily walk with God. That’s the kind of man this world desperately needs.
Stand firm. Stay ready.
