Faith in the workplace

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

My Assessment

As I look around my office, I often wonder – How do my co workers view me from a spiritual standpoint? Do they know the values that I have? Do they know where I stand on controversial topics that seem to be in the headlines each day?

The Workplace

It is a lot of things to us:

  • A means of providing for our family.

  • A chance to use our God given knowledge and skillset.

  • The fulfillment of a job well done.

  • Where we spend 8+ hours a day for 40+ years!!!

However, do we ever think about how we landed in the position that we are in? Do we realize that God’s hand is it at work in every situation we are in? We all have days that we are excited to go to work and days that we are not. This is completely natural but something that we, as Christian men, need to remember is our actions in the workplace serve as an example to others. We never know how a simple, but sincere, conversation with someone could help them.

Be Ready

Have you taken time lately to have a conversation with someone at the office that you don’t know very well? Maybe find a chance in the conversation to tell about your local church or maybe share something about your faith?

We must be looking for opportunities to share the blessings that we have been given. The opportunities are there, we just have to be ready when they come!
