Have you done this yet?

“Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12
Ready to Celebrate?Have you planned your final party yet? I hope you have a long list of invitees, and I hope a large number attend—not for your benefit (you won’t even be there), but for the benefit of others. Yes, I’m talking about your funeral "party" or celebration of life. The more your life is a blessing to others, the stronger their desire to celebrate a life well lived.
This Got My Attention
"People lose their way when they lose their why." The reasons for creating a Life Plan are as varied as the people making them. But the most important thing is to stay connected to your core reasons (Living Forward, by Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy, pp. 53–54).
Do you remember writing your eulogy during your MD5 experience? The eulogy exercise is designed to help you envision the ideal outcome of your life and align your daily actions and habits to bring that outcome about.
Do you remember your WHY?
Writing a eulogy is the ultimate example of living with the end in mind. Knowing how you want to be remembered helps determine how you live each day. It brings clarity, focus, and intention to your schedule, compelling you to prioritize what matters most.
Making a habit of reviewing—and even updating—your eulogy keeps the goal directly in front of you. We talk a lot about daily habits during MD5, but reviewing your life plan might be a monthly habit or follow another cadence that works for you. Regardless, it needs to be on your calendar so you don't forget or ignore it.
A Simple Point
Being intentional about creating margin for people and keeping our eyes on the end goal allows us to keep our focus on Jesus as the ultimate goal.
He knew His “eulogy”… Bury Me, and in three days, I’ll be back as the Savior of the World!
The Truth
I need to take notice of where I'm staying settled out of comfort rather than conviction. Then, I need to kill comfort and pursue a life of conviction by regularly reviewing my eulogy and Life Plan.
Apply It
When was the last time you looked at your Eulogy and Life Plan?
I just added a monthly reminder to my calendar to review my Life Plan and eulogy. How about you?
Here's to looking toward the future and planning a party worth attending!
