What's your Financial F look like?

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children:

and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.”

Proverbs 13:22

New Year, New Finances?

At the start of every new year all forms of media are filled with financial gurus doling out advice in every form imaginable. Much of the advice is centered around debt because it has become so pervasive for most Americans. But there are so many other facets of our financial security that we need to be intentional about.

Keeping our finances in proper perspective can give us clarity on how we manage the resources that God has blessed us with. Our perspective on our finances will align with what we model for our family.

Less About Money

I don’t think the scripture above on inheritance is solely to do with finances. I believe it has more to do with our disciplines and habits that we pass on to generations of our family.  The inheritance we pass on will have much more to do with our intentionality of making our blessings greater than ourselves.  God gave us the blessings and we are to be good stewards.

The Financial F Review

Over the last ten years we have been able to review a lot of Life Plans and there are common themes, and especially on the Financial F.  Below I have listed some of the most common items listed by the men of MD5.

  • Predetermined plan for giving.

  • Starting a budget where every dollar is accounted for.

  • Having a very intentional and aggressive plan to get out of debt.

  • Term life insurance of 10-12 times annual income.

  • A trustworthy financial advisor that has the heart of a teacher.

Your Move

Now would be a great time to review your progress or to make adjustments in your Life Plan. Being intentional about how we steward the financial resources we have been given will have a lot to do with what we pass on in the form of disciplines and habits to the generations behind us.

There are plenty of MD5 men that are willing to help you. Please feel free to contact me or your facilitators if we can help in any way.
